• About Carma Kuhn, M.Ed, LMHC, NCC

I appreciate you wanting to learn more about me and my counseling practice, Couples Carma. I understand it is important for you to be confident and feel comfortable with the person you choose to have as a Marriage Counselor.

Many people wonder if Carma is my real name…well, yes, I am named after my maternal grandmother. Thank you, grandma, for such a cool name to have as a therapist. And thank you, mom, for choosing your mother’s name for me.

Second, I am married. I have been married for 40 years to the same man…well, sort of the same man. We have both changed and reinvented ourselves and our relationship many times through the years. As you can imagine we have experienced a plethora of life’s ups and downs. Managing all of the good, the bad and the ugly – has taught me numerous marriage and relationship lessons. As I have continued my training and education I can attest how valuable it is to seek help in communication, emotional connection, intimacy, and all areas of relationship.

Couples Carma focuses on three major categories of marriage counseling:

    1. Couples who are stuck in a rut. Their relationship has lost the intimacy and specialness it once had. They want to deepen and strengthen their relationship and connection.
    2. Couples who are trapped in the cycle of high conflict. They want to stop the fighting and instead learn skills and tools for communicating and resolving conflict in a mutually respectful way.
    3. Couples who are healing, repairing, rebuilding and recovering from an affair. Hoping to have the strength to move through the pain and betrayal of the infidelity. They want to learn to trust again, and recreate a different, stronger and better relationship.

I have a Master’s Degree in Mental Health Counseling from Florida Atlantic University practicing as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and National Certified Counselor. It has been my pleasure to help couples with their journey of marriage, through the many stages and places they travel over the years together.

On a personal note, I love to garden and watching things grow. My butterfly garden continues to produce a number of Monarch butterflies. Another passion of mine is to experiment with new recipes and food from other cultures. (Many times using herbs and other ingredients from my garden.) My cookbook collection grows almost as fast as my garden plants!

It is possible to have and sustain a healthy relationship and fun, fulfilling marriage. It takes desire and willingness to make the effort, put in the time, and do the work. Now is the best time to have the relationship and marriage you have always wanted. Believe in possibility and call me to begin your transformation.
